We are excited to announce another #OrangeDoorProject fundraising campaign by Home Depot Canada Foundation.

Crisis Centre North Bay is hiring at our Four Elms Emergency Shelter, Low Barrier Shelter, Transitional Housing program for adults and our Futures program.  The positions are casual part time with many shift opportunities and the ability to work at more than one of our programs which increases the amount of shifts available to you.

To work in these programs, you will need a degree or diploma in a social service related field.  Once interviewed if you are conditionally hired you will be required to provide a Criminal Record Check with a check for working with vulnerable sector clients included.

The summer Orange Door Campaign starts today!  To prevent and help end youth homelessness donate $2.00 at the North Bay Home Depot store and support Crisis Centre North Bay.  This summer campaign runs from July 6/21 to August 1/21.  You can also make an online donation by following this link:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Community College Diploma or University Degree in a relevant social service field of study is mandatory

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and crisis management skills

  • Must have exemplary emotional intelligence

  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which can be physically demanding

  • The flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, statutory holidays as scheduled

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Experience working with persons living with mental health and addictions challenges who are experiencing homelessness

  • Knowledge of community resources relating to housing, mental health, addictions, financial supports

  • Crisis prevention and intervention training considered an asset (we provide training to staff)

Just a quick post to let everyone know the awaited Burgers for Relief campaign 2020 will be postponed until 2021.  We were so looking forward to partnering with restaurants this year and growing our fundraiser, however due to COVID-19 we need all hands on deck here at Crisis Centre.  All of our residential programs have stayed open during the pandemic to ensure our community members  have the services they need to get by.  Wishing you all the best this fall!

It has been brought to our attention that google has listed the homeless shelter as "temporarily closed"  while we wait for them to fix their mistake I wanted to post to ensure everyone is aware the shelter is open for admissions.  You will be screened at the door using the Ontario Governments COVID-19 screener.  If you have questions about the services offered at the shelter please call 705-474-1031.  We are open 24 hours a day.

Crisis Centre North Bay would like to thank participating restaurants and special donors that contributed to the Burgers for Relief campaign. $7118.20 was raised during this campaign, all monies will go towards the renovation costs for the kitchen at North Bay’s only 24/7 co-ed homeless shelter-operated by Crisis Centre.
Thank you to everyone in the community who came out to support the Crisis Centre and to the 18 restaurants who participated in 2019 to make this campaign a huge success! Many thanks to Caisse Alliance and the  New Ontario Brewing Company for their sponsorship and Pizza Hut and The Sub Place for the donation of prizes.
Stay tuned Burgers for Relief 2020 will be happening in September this year!!
